Prashant Ruia is Member of Board, Essar Capital Ltd., he is part of the second generation of the Ruia family which founded Essar and are the sole investors in Essar Global Fund Limited ("EGFL"). EGFL was founded 41 years ago by his father, Shashi Ruia and uncle Ravi Ruia. EGFL is a diversified global private equity fund exclusively managed by its investment manager, Essar Capital Limited. The Fund is a global investor, controlling a number of world-class assets diversified across the core sectors of Energy, Metals & Mining, Infrastructure (comprising ports & Construction businesses) and Services. Essar Capital currently manages funds in excess of US$ 12 billion and the aggregated revenues of the Funds portfolio companies are approximately US$22 billion. The Fund’s portfolio comprises some 60 assets, employ over 60,000 people across 29 countries and have adopted international standards of health, safety, environmental protection and corporate governance. Prashant has been an integral part of EGFL’s operations and management since 1985 and has been a key driver of the Fund’s growth story, diversification and value creation both within India and internationally. He is respected for his project execution skills, financial expertise and people management capabilities. Prashant holds several key positions on various regulatory and professional boards, he is a Board member of the World Steel Association, Board member of Steel & Energy Industry at the World Economic Forum, Member of the India – Indonesia CEO’s forum and several other bodies.
Naresh Nayyar was previously Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Essar Energy Limited (EEL) and Essar Oil India. Prior to joining Essar Oil, he was the CEO of ONGC Mittal Energy Limited (a joint venture between Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited and Mittal Investments). Previous to that, he served for 30 years with Indian Oil Corporation in India, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Petronet LNG Ltd, IBP, and Lanka IOC Limited where he served as Chairman. He was also Chairman of the Indian Oil Marubeni Panipat Power Project.
P Sampath was previously Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of Essar Energy Limited (EEL). He joined the Essar Group in August 2008 and was previously Director of Finance of Essar Oil. He has over 30 years of experience in various fields, including global corporate finance and treasury, mergers and acquisitions, corporate business planning, investor relations, global HR strategy and financial and management accounting. Prior to this, Mr Sampath held a number of senior finance roles including Group Chief Financial Officer for RPG Enterprises Limited and Managing Director of GHCL Limited. Mr Sampath has a first class Bachelor of Commerce degree from Madras University, is a Fellow Member of both the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India and the Institute of company secretaries of India.
Jon Mason worked for Shell from 1983 to 2011 before moving to Essar following the sale of Stanlow. He has been responsible for the day-to-day operation of Stanlow Refinery and was appointed to his role in 2011. A mechanical engineer by background (plus MBA), Jon has experience in oil movements, project and construction, Cat cracking maintenance, refinery maintenance and turnaround management and as engineering manager for both the Stanlow Refinery and the Deer Park Refinery in the US.
Deepak Maheshwari is the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of Essar Energy. He has in the past been associated with Reliance Power and ANZ Investment Bank and ICICI Securities. He has been responsible for leading capital markets and financing transactions.
Mr. K. N. Venkatasubramanian was appointed to the Board of Directors of Essar Oil, India, on November 29, 2000. He has over 51 years of experience in the oil & gas and petrochemicals sectors having worked for IPCL, IOCL and Gulf Oil Limited. He has previously served as Director, Marketing and Director, Operations of IPCL, Chairman and Managing Director of Engineers India Ltd., Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Oil and as Chairman of Gulf Oil Ltd. He is currently Chairman of Times Technoplast Ltd. He is a Chemical Engineer from A.C. College of Technology, Chennai and an M.Tech from IIT, Kharagpur.
